Fillers, Tear troughs, Lips

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers is a term used to indicate treatments which improve your looks by simple injections. These injections may boost your looks by enhancing your facial profile, creating fuller lips and smoothing out lines and wrinkles. All sorts of materials can be used. The most popular material so far is synthetically derived, stabilised hyaluronic acid e.g. Restylane, , Juvederm, RHA. As hyaluronic acid, a natural constituent of the body, helps bind water in the skin, its loss with age allows the skin to appear dry and lax. This loss of fullness can be restored by dermal injections of fillers at the site of lines and wrinkles, as well as into lips for added definition, fullness and sensuousness. Certain types of fillers can be used to enhance facial contours e.g. mid face or cheek enhancement. Other popular areas include the nose to mouth lines and Marionette lines. Fillers can also be used to resculpt the jawline and chin area.
We often use cannulas to inject dermal fillers rather than needles. Cannulas are blunt ended therefore less likely to cause damage to underlying structures such as nerves and blood vessels. This makes the treatments safer for you and more comfortable. There is also less likely to be bruising and swelling with treatments and often there is none at all.

We only use premium brand fillers sourced from the manufacturers approved retail partners.

Tear Troughs

Tesoyal Redensity II is a specialised filler treatment designed and licensed for treating dark circles and hollows in the tear trough area. Is it surprisingly not a painful treatment and there is usually very little bruising. Results, unlike normal fillers, take about 2 weeks to develop though. Results last about a year.

A word about lips...

At Belvista Medics be assured that the aim with lips is to provide subtle enhancement rather than an obviously false look! Lip treatments are especially good for smoothing out the fine lines around the mouth which are so ageing, as well as adding volume for those who want it. We lose volume from our lips as we age and also from the underlying supporting tissues which is why our lips get smaller as we age. Our goal is often to try and restore this volume loss and recreate a more youthful lip.

Restylane (dermal filler treatment) consists of non-animal hyaluronic acid which helps replace the reduced amounts present in aging skin. As hyaluronic acid, a natural constituent of dermal tissue, helps bind water in the skin, its loss with age allows the skin to appear dry and lax. This loss of fullness can be restored by dermal injections of Restylane at the site of lines and wrinkles, as well as into lips for added definition, fullness and sensuousness. Certain types of Restylane can be used to enhance facial contours e.g. cheek enhancement, and tend to last longer in situ (due to the larger size of the gel particles).

Restylane, being non-animal in origin, is free of risk from transmitted disease.
More than 30 million treatments with Restylane have been carried out worldwide since 1996. It has recently been reformulated to contain local anaesthetic to increase comfort. The restylane range  contains a wide portfolio of different products for different indications, all designed to produce a beautiful natural look.

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid based filler which also contains local anaesthetic making it a more comfortable treatment. To find out more please click on the link on the Home Page.

Treatments normally last less than 30 minutes and there is no need for pre-testing. You will see the results immediately.

Pain relief can easily be arranged although it is not required by all patients. Lip treatments sometimes require a local anaesthetic. Otherwise, prior to your procedure, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area.

Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a slight redness, slight swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection.

The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears quickly. When it comes to lip augmentation, the swelling may last longer. During this time, the lips can look somewhat uneven. This means that the result directly after the treatment should not be regarded as the final result. A touch-up treatment 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction and duration.

Teoxane- The teosyal and RHA fillers are a fabulous range of products which are designed to move as your face moves. Again, this range is a hyaluronic acid filler so safe and natural. There are several fillers in this range designed to meet all of your aesthetic requirements.

Side effects:

Common side effects as from any injection might occur - redness, swelling, pain, itch, discolouration, bruising. These usually resolve within a few days and within a week for lips.

Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in approx 1 in 2000 treatments and usually show as swelling at the injection site. Other skin reactions are generally self-limiting, with more severe reactions being very rare.

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores.

If you are using aspirin or any similar medication (e.g. Plavix), be aware that these may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Often a cannula rather than a sharp needle can be used to reduce the discomfort of the treatment and reduce the bruising associated with treatment.

General points:

Make-up in the specific area will need to be removed prior to treatment and when possible a pre-treatment photo taken.

A consent form for treatment will need to be signed.

A topical anaesthetic cream may be offered, which will help, though will not completely relieve all of the discomfort. It just hurts while it's being injected!

Restylane Vital

Years of sun-damage combined with the natural aging process result in a depletion of hyaluronic acid (HA) and loss of elasticity with thinning of the skin giving a dry scaly appearance with crepey fine lines. This is commonly seen on the face, neck, décolletage and hands. Restylane Vital – hyaluronic acid(HA) provides hydration and moisturising from within to reverse these changes.

Restylane Vital- is a smooth, pure, crystal clear non-animal hyaluronic gel which provides deep dermal hydration, moisturising from within to improve skin tone and health to restore the skin to a plump hydrated appearance, reducing fine lines. Restylane Vital replenishes the skins’ own hyaluronic acid which attracts water in the skin improving texture, tone and skin health. Recent studies have confirmed that HA boosts collagen production in the skin providing added benefit in skin rejuvenation. Improvement in the skin appears within a few weeks following treatment. An initial course of 2 or 3 treatments every 2-4 weeks is recommended for optimal results.

Restylane Vital releases hyaluronic acid gradually over a period of time, therefore the improvement in the appearance generally lasts for 4 -6 months. Repeat treatments are recommended every 6 months to maintain the skin hydration and improvement.

Frequency of treatment:

The effects of fillers generally last between 6-12 months but this varies depending on the area and the individual. Generally, fillers last longer in areas with less movement.

The Juvedern vycross range is designed to last longer than this.
